Why would you want to promte you products on a ebay auction webpage and not just off their web site?

Easy control, if you only have your products on ebay then you are completely under their control. If you have your own webpage you can get better results, use other auction sites and pre-sell people prior to them going to the auction. This pre selling off your own site will normally increase your bids and the final price. Also people will only look at your bid.
